Meet Nigel Shires

Nigel is Technical Director to Qualitas Compliance Consultancy, he has a wealth of built environment experience.

Having operated at senior level within the statutory compliance sector for 18 years, Nigel is passionate about working with design and construction teams in the de-risking of fire safety compliance matters and seeing high quality projects coming to fruition.

Honours degree qualified and chartered member of the Association of Building Engineers (CABE), Nigel has been responsible for the Building Control project management of a wide portfolio of development schemes ranging in value from £1m to £250m across the majority of sectors.

Notably during an 8 year employment with National House Building Council (NHBC), Nigel was responsible for ensuring statutory compliance for some of the UK’s largest residential and mixed use developments by clients including Berkeley Homes, L&Q, Barratt London and Crest Nicholson.  Nigel is also highly experienced within the PBSA sector having worked closely with owner, developer and operators including Unite Group.

Nigel is seasoned in adopting key account working relationships and has acted as national compliance lead for developer and manager of retirement communities, McCarthy & Stone.

Nigel is practiced at organising his deliverables within the RIBA Plan of Work and enjoys a respected reputation within the industry.
